'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Galbraith continues battle with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he reminisces about the dramatic closing stages of his team's epic comeback win against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. The game culminated with Galbraith temporarily wearing a spectator's eyewear following the pitch-side pile-on.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith struck the post with a powerful effort from distance, and his teammate promptly slammed home the loose ball before charging toward the East Stand to mark the goal, with supporters swarming the players.

Remarkable Recovery

This capped an unbelievable turnaround given Swansea had found themselves down 2-0 midway through the latter period. Amid the celebrations, there was some unintended consequences. He shared, "There was a fan shouting out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're individuals, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The victory booked a next round game at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith came close against at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. The athletic midfielder had an excellent perspective when his former team took the lead in remarkable manner, with the attacker's volley from about long distance going in via the bar and the Stefan Ortega. It seems unfair that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've awarded it to him for having a go from that far out," says Galbraith, who started in midfield before shifting to right defensive wing after the team changed shape. That meant competing with Jack Grealish, with whom he traded tops, and the attacker was among the City players who paid tribute to the way his former team approached the match.

Opponent's Class

"Athletically they are exceptional but even the basics and basic skills, they can just execute repeatedly," he explains. "It seems as if they complete every delivery and they are adept at dictate and slow down a game. You can believe you're all right and then without warning they will just fizz a pass past your midfield without you even spotting it. You have to be focused at all times of the game. It demands a tough attitude and concentration just to keep pace."

New Chapter

The Welsh side pushed to sign Galbraith in January and beat off competition to secure him in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He became a favorite as a fans' favourite across multiple campaigns at his former club and has swiftly achieved similar status in his new home. At Orient he linked up again with the coach, who previously gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in first-team action on loan at a League One side from United. Then came a loan at fourth-tier Salford City, before he departed Old Trafford.

Development Path

"I was perhaps a bit naive going into professional soccer. I think a lot of players would say under-23s football is very different. Sometimes it appears play is circulated without real physicality. There are limited tackles or duels. Once you start playing professional matches you have to adjust fast."

National Team Success

He has shown that development for club and country, excelling for Northern Ireland, who remain in contention for the international competition next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has been selected in the last several matches, including both legs encounters against a football powerhouse. His former international manager, Galbraith's ex- international manager, paid him the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he controls possession and his ability to spot a killer pass.

Starting Out

This marks quite the ride for the player from the neighborhood in his hometown, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who was raised observing his parent, the elder Galbraith, also a engine room operator, play for a local club.

Red Devils Debut

His single match for Manchester United came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a Europa League trip to the host city, where they featured on an artificial pitch and the stadium roof was sealed owing to conditions of bitter cold. "That proved to be a extended travel and it was freezing," he comments, smiling. "The preceding week, myself and quite a few of the young lads trained together, so that assisted our preparation. Just to join the main group and make an appearance at the end was unbelievable."

Departing Old Trafford

How difficult was it to depart Manchester United, the club he joined from Linfield aged a teenager? "This turned out quite easy, because I got to the stage where I understood I couldn't establish myself at the senior squad. I'm extremely thankful for the time I spent there but it got to the point where I thought I had to take a different path, join a smaller club and play men's football. Now I'm steadily progressing again."

Welsh Adaptation

This occurs during the middle of the day at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has a commitment at the early evening: a driving theory test, another step towards getting on the road. Before his recent move to Sketty, the mid-twenties player was a frequent passenger in Swansea's nicknamed team minibus, a team vehicle driven by club employees, the transport team, which ferries players to and from training and matches.

"It's myself Gonçalo Franco, another squad member, an Ivorian player – a former passenger used to be in it but has started driving. It's enjoyable to interact with the guys but I'm planning to be the next one to drive independently and driving. The Portuguese player enjoys practical jokes; he's frequently playing tricks."

Supporter Connections

During his time at his former club, Galbraith would travel alongside followers on the Tube after starting his journey at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
